Easy Inflatables Compliance

Compliance & Safety Standards for Easy Inflatables Boats

When you buy an inflatable boat, compliance should do more than satisfy a document requirement — it should give you confidence in how the boat performs, carries load, handles changing conditions and maintains its shape and stability over time.

At Easy Inflatables, that is exactly how we look at it. Our boats conform to ISO 6185 Cat C Type 3 and ISO 12217-1, giving you confidence in real-world stability, buoyancy and performance — not just a spec sheet.

Built for confidence, not just paperwork
We don’t select boats based on brochures — we select them based on how they actually perform. Stability, load handling and durability matter far more than marketing claims.

Trusted by people who rely on inflatable boats properly
Easy Inflatables is built around real-world operating experience. We understand what commercial operators, serious boat owners and practical buyers look for — dependable stability, quality materials, proper load support and boats that inspire confidence every time they go on the water.

International standards our boats conform to

We focus on internationally recognised inflatable boat standards because they relate directly to safety, flotation, load handling and real-world operating confidence.

ISO 6185 Cat C Type 3
This standard applies to powered inflatable boats intended for recognised recreational and practical use in coastal waters, bays, rivers and inland waterways. It supports confidence in structural design, operating capability and safe use in moderate conditions.
ISO 12217-1
This standard relates to stability and buoyancy, which are critical in an inflatable boat. It supports safe flotation, balanced load carrying and more predictable behaviour when people, fuel and equipment are onboard.

Australian Builders Plate exemption for certain inflatable boats

In Australia, the Australian Builders Plate (ABP) exemption does not automatically apply to every inflatable boat. It applies only to certain inflatable boats that fall within the recognised exemption pathway and meet the relevant certification requirements for that class of boat.

In simple terms, some inflatable boats are treated differently from conventional rigid-hull boats because their chambered construction and built-in buoyancy create a different compliance pathway.

More specifically, this pathway applies to inflatable boats to which ISO 6185 applies, together with the required attached certification plate under the applicable recognised standard pathway, including a plate attached in accordance with Directive 2013/53/EU where relevant. For Easy Inflatables, this means our compliance position is based on recognised inflatable boat standards, including ISO 6185 Cat C Type 3 and ISO 12217-1, together with the relevant certification and conformity statements pathway applicable to the boat supplied.

Important compliance clarification
☑ The ABP exemption is not a blanket exemption for all inflatable boats
☑ It applies only to certain inflatable boats to which ISO 6185 applies
☑ The boat must also follow the relevant certification plate pathway, which may include Directive 2013/53/EU where applicable
☑ Easy Inflatables conformity statements are intended to reflect recognised inflatable boat standards and the applicable certification pathway for the boat supplied

Why compliance means more at Easy Inflatables

We do not look at inflatable boats as generic retail products. We understand them from a practical operating point of view, and that changes what we value and what we recommend.

A compliant boat still has to feel right on the water. It has to carry load properly, remain stable at rest, stay predictable underway and hold up to regular use. That is why we place so much emphasis on proper hull design, reinforced construction, quality materials and realistic ownership use.

Materials and construction that support real safety

Compliance is supported by the way a boat is built, the quality of the materials used and how confidently the structure holds up over time in real operating conditions.

☑ Premium fabric options
Available in 1.2mm German Valmex PVC or 1.0mm French Hypalon for strength, durability and long-term confidence.
☑ Multi-chamber safety design
Built-in flotation redundancy supports safer operation and confidence if one chamber is compromised.
☑ High-pressure structure
High-pressure construction helps the boat hold shape, improve rigidity and feel more confidence-inspiring underway.
☑ Reinforced build quality
Critical wear zones, seams and stress points matter because real compliance should still perform after repeated use.
☑ Quality fittings and hardware
Handles, attachment points, valves and hardware all contribute to long-term usability, reliability and on-water confidence.
☑ Consistent load support and stability
Good construction is not only about strength — it also helps the boat sit, balance and carry load more predictably in practical use.

Compliance comparison: premium inflatable boats vs cheap imports

Not every inflatable boat on the market is built to the same level, even if the brochure photos look similar. The real difference usually shows up in structure, stability, materials, hardware quality and how the boat feels after repeated use.

What matters Easy Inflatables approach Cheap import risk
Compliance thinking Built around recognised inflatable boat standards and practical use. Often sold on price first, with less clarity around real build quality and long-term confidence.
Fabric and materials Premium-grade materials selected for durability, structure and real ownership value. Lower-grade fabrics and fittings can look fine initially but age harder and feel less confidence-inspiring.
Stability and load behaviour Emphasis on predictable handling, buoyancy and practical on-water use. Can feel less balanced under load, especially once used regularly or run in rougher conditions.
Long-term value Higher upfront quality usually means better confidence, better ownership experience and stronger long-term value. The low entry price can become less attractive if durability, performance or trust is not there.

Why proper compliance matters when buying an inflatable boat

A boat can look impressive online and still disappoint once it is loaded with passengers, gear and fuel. That is why compliance has to be backed by sensible design, premium construction and a practical understanding of how inflatable boats are actually used.

At Easy Inflatables, the goal is not just to sell a boat that appears to meet a category. The goal is to help owners choose a boat that feels stable, dependable and properly built every time they launch it.

Compliance FAQ

What does ISO 6185 Cat C Type 3 mean for inflatable boats?
It means the boat conforms to a recognised inflatable boat standard intended for practical use in coastal waters, bays, rivers and inland waterways, with emphasis on safety, structure and operating suitability.
What does ISO 12217-1 cover?
ISO 12217-1 relates to stability and buoyancy. In practical terms, it supports how safely and predictably the boat behaves when carrying people and gear.
Why is there an Australian Builders Plate exemption for certain inflatable boats?
Because inflatable boats can fall under a specific exemption pathway where ISO 6185 applies and the relevant certification plate requirements are met, which may include a plate attached in accordance with Directive 2013/53/EU where applicable. It is not an automatic exemption for all inflatables.
Does compliance alone make one inflatable boat as good as another?
No. Materials, chamber design, seam quality, fittings, hull shape and real-world load behaviour all play a major role in how confidence-inspiring the boat feels over time.
Why buy from Easy Inflatables?
Because we focus on boats that are properly built, confidence-inspiring on the water and aligned with recognised inflatable boat standards — not simply boats chosen because they are cheap to land and easy to advertise.

Choose a boat built for real confidence
Proper compliance should lead to something you can actually feel on the water — better balance, better structure, better buoyancy and greater peace of mind. That is the standard we believe inflatable boat buyers should expect.
