- A drier, more stable platform at rest
- Stronger materials for long-term use
- Twin-hull catamaran stability with reduced roll
- 12 PSI drop-stitch floor for a firmer feel

Viper 400 Sovereign is built for that role.
Viper 400 Sovereign vs Older Zodiac Discovery-Style 4m Sports
This comparison is about ownership priorities, not absolute better-or-worse claims.
| Feature | Viper 400 Sovereign | Older Zodiac Discovery/Classic-Style 4m |
|---|---|---|
| Platform focus | Twin-hull catamaran stability platform | Traditional tender / monohull layout |
| Stability at rest | Very high – reduced roll | Good – typically more roll than twin-hull |
| Underfoot rigidity | 12 PSI drop-stitch floor | Varies by older model and floor setup |
| Setup time | Fast – no heavy floor panels | Can be longer if older panel systems are used |
| Material emphasis | 1.2mm 2000D Valmex® PVC | Varies by year and model |
| Package value | Bimini, wheels, electric pump, seats, bag, repair kit | Varies by dealer, package, or used listing |
| Best suited to | Family boating, fishing, and coastal confidence | Traditional tender duties / classic format |
If you want traditional heritage in a classic sports boat format, an older Discovery-style 4m may appeal.
If you want more stability, faster setup, and a package-ready premium catamaran for real family and fishing use,
the Viper 400 Sovereign is the stronger ownership proposition.

Stuart. P. –
okay I have only had this new boat for two weeks, so far so good. Very Stable Cat, easy to handle and feels very solid.
I’ve owned a few inflatables over the years and the Viper 400 Sovereign is easily the most stable one I’ve used. The catamaran layout really makes a difference when you’re moving around the boat. Even with a couple of people shifting weight while fishing it stays surprisingly steady.
The 12 PSI floor is much firmer than the softer air floors I’ve had before. It actually feels more like standing on a small rigid boat rather than an inflatable, which gives you a lot more confidence when launching or boarding.
Setup is also quicker than I expected. Not having heavy floor panels to assemble makes a big difference, especially if you’re launching regularly. You must het the package as it Includes the best portable air pump i have ever used.
The overall build quality feels solid and the Valmex fabric looks tough enough for long-term use. Everything about the boat gives me the impression it was designed for serious boating rather than just weekend use.
Overall very happy with it and it’s been a great upgrade from my previous Highfield inflatable. Thanks Stuart Piece, QLD
