💰 Price Context:
Many inflatable catamarans in this size cut costs using 0.7–0.9mm PVC and lightweight floors. The WaveRunner 380 Series 3 uses 1.2mm Valmex® PVC, reinforced air-deck, and robust construction, delivering unmatched stability, safety, and longevity. Buy once. Use it for years.

What Makes a Catamaran a Catamaran
Before we talk fabrics, let’s clear one thing up:
A catamaran hull configuration — two parallel tubes with a deck in between — fundamentally changes how a boat behaves on the water:
-
Stability at rest: Less roll, more confidence getting in and out.
-
Flat ride underway: Twin hulls cut through chop instead of bouncing across it.
-
Load-carrying: Weight distributes more evenly than on a single hull.
Catamarans aren’t just a trend in inflatables — they’re a design that works when you want more than “just floating.”

The Fabric That Matters: Why 1.2 mm Valmex PVC
Most cheaper inflatable boats use 0.7 – 0.9 mm PVC — and on paper, that sounds just fine. Lighter fabric keeps weight down and makes packing easier. But here’s the reality I’ve seen on the water:
Cheaper PVC (0.7–0.9 mm)
-
Pros: Light, easy to transport, lower upfront cost.
-
Cons: Wears faster under real use, flexes more in chop, shows signs of abrasion sooner.
1.2 mm Valmex PVC (Aerowave)
-
Pros: Tougher surface, better resistance to abrasion, holds shape under load.
-
Cons: Slightly heavier — but not heavy — and totally worth the trade-off.
The difference isn’t academic — once you’ve used both types in actual boating conditions, you feel the advantages of thicker, more resilient material:
-
Better tracking
-
Less unwanted flex
-
Higher resistance to wear from sand, trailers, and gear
This diagram shows how a tougher fabric gives you better protection against common threats on the water.
It’s a simple concept: stronger materials such as German Valmex 1.2mm fabric offer better resistance, which means a more durable and reliable boat for your adventures year after year.

As an avid adventurer and water sports enthusiast, I recently had the pleasure of buying and testing out the WaveRunner 380 Inflatable Sports Catamaran, and let me tell you, it exceeded all my expectations!
Design and Build Quality:
The WaveRunner 380 boasts a sleek and modern design that not only looks great on the water but is also built for performance. The catamaran structure provides excellent stability, which is essential for both recreational outings and more spirited adventures. The materials used in construction feel robust and resilient, making it suitable for various water conditions.
Ease of Setup:
One of the standout features of the WaveRunner 380 is how easy it is to set up. The inflation process was swift, taking just minutes, thanks to the included high-capacity pump. Once inflated, it held air remarkably well throughout the day. The deflation and packing process was just as seamless, making it super convenient to transport back home.
Performance on Water:
In terms of performance, the WaveRunner 380 is a dream! It glides smoothly over the water, and its catamaran design offers impressive stability, even in choppier waters. I took it out for a day of fun with friends, and we had a blast navigating through waves and making quick turns without any wobbling. The handling is responsive, with a 15hp Mercury Outboard and I felt secure aboard the vessel.
Comfort and Space:
Inside the catamaran, there was plenty of room for everyone. The inflatable seating is surprisingly comfortable, allowing for extended periods of sitting without discomfort. We managed to fit four adults comfortably, and there was still space for gear and supplies. The storage compartments were a nice touch, providing easy access to essentials while keeping the deck clutter-free.

What I particularly love about the WaveRunner 380 is its versatility. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful day of fishing, a thrilling ride with friends, or a relaxing cruise with family, this catamaran fits the bill perfectly. It’s suitable for lakes, rivers, and even calmer ocean waters, making it an excellent all-around choice for any water lover.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, the WaveRunner 380 Inflatable Sports Catamaran has become my go-to watercraft now. It combines durability, performance, and comfort in a way that’s hard to beat. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable inflatable catamaran that is perfect for various water activities. Our Family’s Perfect Beach Day with the Wave Runner 380
I just recently bought the Wave Runner 380 inflatable sports boat with the aluminum transom for weekends on the coast Broadwater, and it exceeded our expectations. The kids loved zooming around while my partner and I enjoyed a relaxing cruise.
Pros and features we used a lot:
Aluminum transom: Sturdy and reliable, it felt like a real boat without the heft of a fibreglass hull. We could attach a small trolling motor for calm inlets, and it still folds up compactly for the drive home.
Stable and well-sized: The 380’s wide beam gave us a stable ride even when a light breeze picked up. It’s big enough to hold four adults and gear without feeling cramped.
Easy setup and pack-away: We inflated it in about 10 minutes and deflated just as quickly when we were done. The carry bag and compact design fit perfectly in the Mazda CX5 boot.
Performance that’s kid- and parent-friendly: It planes smoothly, with quick start-to-cruise acceleration. The kids could ride along side us on a gentle inlet, while we enjoyed a steady, fuel-efficient cruise.
Durable materials: The fabric felt rugged, and we appreciated the reinforced seams. It handled the waves near the jetty without showing signs of wear.
What stood out:
Safety-first design: The inflatable chambers kept us buoyant even if one chamber saw a splash. The non-slip floor added confidence for family members wading in and out.
Versatility: We can use it it for a quick reef snorkel run, a towing tube session (with care), and a lazy sunset cruise. The aluminum transom meant we could mount a small motor when we wanted more range.
Storage pockets and quick-dry surfaces: Handy for sunblock, towels, and snacks. The floor dries fast, which kept our beach towels from getting soggy.
Bottom line: If you want a portable, family-friendly boat that’s easy to transport and dependable at the beach, the Wave Runner 380 with aluminum transom is a winner. It combines the ease of an inflatable with the durability and performance edge you’d expect from a larger Inflatable, making our beach day memorable without complicating logistics.
Would highly recommend for families who want more boating days at the shore without the hassle of a heavy bigger boat.
