Why 1.2 mm VALMEX® matters
Every inflatable looks the same in a photo. The difference is the hull wall — and you only feel it the day something goes wrong.
1.2 mm against 0.9 mm is a third more fabric in every tube wall — the part that meets oyster racks, boat ramps, gravel and roof-rack straps.
Australian UV attacks the coating first. A thicker coating layer means the reinforcing scrim stays protected for years longer.
Thermo-welded seams fuse through the coating. More coating means a deeper, stronger weld and far more resistance to peel.
The Viper hull carries 5 years standard plus extended Years 6–7 cover. We only offer that on the 1.2 mm hull.
Service life figures are based on Australian UV exposure with normal seasonal use and correct storage. Both fabrics are premium German VALMEX®-grade material — the Viper simply runs the heavier 1500 GSM / 1.2 mm spec.
Typical imports publish 12 months, if anything at all.

Why 20 HP on the Viper 400 Open Bow?
20 HP is the sweet spot — it planes 4–6 adults, sips fuel and stays inside the standard recreational licence bracket in most states. The hull is rated to 40 HP if you want more later.
Is this a carburettor or fuel-injected motor?
Straight carburettor 4-stroke — no electronics on the fuel system. Simple, reliable and serviceable anywhere in Australia. Manual pull-start (recoil).
Is the outboard short shaft or long shaft?
Short shaft (15 inch), matched to the Viper 400 Open Bow 380 mm transom. If you need long shaft, tell us in the notes at checkout.
What is the difference between the Open Bow and the Sovereign?
The Open Bow has an open forward deck — more usable space for fishing, dive gear and camping loads. The Sovereign has an enclosed bow and a heavier hull. Both are 4 m, both 1.2 mm VALMEX.
How is it shipped?
The boat and the outboard ship separately. Boat: delivery included in the price — express courier (DHL Express, FedEx or UPS), 7–10 days door-to-door after manufacture, freight, GST, duty and clearance covered. Hidea outboard: A$350 to capital cities, A$450 to regional Australia, price on application for remote NT, SA, WA and TAS.
Is oil included with the outboard?
No — Hidea 4-stroke fully synthetic oil (1 L) is A$60 as an add-on and is required for the first fill on a brand-new motor. Most owners add it at checkout.
What warranty applies?
5–7 years on the hull (VALMEX fabric and welded seams) and 5 years on the Hidea outboard. Full terms at /warranty.
