Frequently asked questions
Why 20 HP instead of a bigger motor?
20 HP is the sweet spot on a Viper 400 for most owners — planes 4 adults, sips fuel and is legal on standard boat licences. The hull is rated up to 40 HP if you want to step up later.
Is this a carburettor or fuel-injected motor?
It's a straight carburettor 4-stroke — no electronics on the fuel system. Simple, reliable and easy to service anywhere in Australia. Manual pull-start (recoil).
Is the outboard short shaft or long shaft?
Short shaft (15 inch), matched to the Viper 400 Sovereign 380 mm transom. If you need long shaft, tell us in the notes at checkout.
How is it shipped?
The boat and the outboard ship separately. Boat: A$600 Australia-wide (air upgrade available at checkout). Hidea outboard: A$350 to capital cities, A$450 to regional Australia, price on application for remote NT, SA, WA and TAS — delivered direct to your home or business.
Is oil included with the outboard?
No — Hidea 4-stroke fully synthetic oil (1 L) is A$60 as an add-on and is required for the first fill on a brand-new motor. Most owners add it to the order at checkout.
What warranty applies?
5–7 years on the hull (VALMEX fabric and welded seams, extended cover on major structural defects for years 6–7) and 5 years on the Hidea outboard. Full terms at /warranty.
