Read owner storiesA 30 horsepower outboard turns a 3.8 m to 4.5 m inflatable into a genuine load carrier โ four adults, fuel, ice, dive gear, and it still gets up and goes. It is also 107 kg, which means the motor lives on the boat permanently and the whole setup has to be planned around that.
If you are cross-shopping a 30 hp outboard engine in Australia in 2026, these are the numbers that matter.
30 HP EFI specifications
Our Hidea 30HP EFI:
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Engine | 3-cylinder 4-stroke, 6 valves, SOHC |
| Displacement | 747 cc |
| Power | 30 HP (22 kW) @ 5800 rpm |
| Fuel delivery | Electronic fuel injection |
| Gear shift | Forward โ Neutral โ Reverse |
| Start | Electric |
| Control | Tiller (rear) or remote (front) |
| Transom height | Long shaft 21" (538 mm) |
| Dry weight | 107 kg |
| Fuel tank | 24 L external |
| Alarms | Oil pressure and temperature sensors standard |
| Warranty | 5-year (3 + 2) |
Three cylinders and 747 cc is what separates this from the 20 HP class. It is smoother at cruise, pulls harder out of the hole with a load, and does not need to be revved to feel willing.
30 hp outboard price in Australia (2026)
| Configuration | Price |

| Short shaft, electric start, tiller | A$7,890 |
| Long shaft, electric start, tiller | A$7,963 |
Delivery is flat-rate to Australian capital cities, quoted before you pay. Remote, island and regional destinations are quoted on application โ a 107 kg outboard travels on a pallet and we get a live carrier quote rather than guessing.
What boats suit 30 HP?
- 3.8 m to 4.5 m inflatable catamarans rated for it
- Boats used offshore, in open bays, or across real distances
- Four-adult loads, dive charters, work and rescue use
- Anyone who wants remote controls and a console rather than tiller steering
Check the maximum rated horsepower for your hull first โ it is listed on every boat page in our range. A 30 HP on a hull rated to 20 HP is not a performance upgrade, it is a handling problem.
The 107 kg reality
This is not a motor you carry. Plan for:
- The engine staying mounted, with the boat moved on launching wheels or a trailer
- A transom that suits a 21" (538 mm) shaft โ get this wrong and the prop ventilates in chop, which we cover in cavitation and transom height
- Two people, or a hoist, for any time the motor has to come off
Where does 40 HP fit?
Searches for a 40hp outboard usually come from one of two places: people who want more top speed, or people who have been told a bigger motor is safer. In an inflatable, neither usually holds.
Above 30 HP you are into weights that most inflatable transoms are not rated for, and the extra power does far less for load-carrying than a well-matched 30 does. For almost every 3.8 m to 4.5 m inflatable in Australia, 30 HP EFI is the sensible ceiling, and it is the largest engine we recommend on our hulls.
If you genuinely need 40 HP for a rated aluminium or fibreglass hull, call us on +61 2 4335 1603 and we will tell you honestly whether we can help or whether you are better served elsewhere.
20 HP or 30 HP?
- Stay at 20 HP if the boat is 3.8 m or under, you mostly carry two people, and weight matters
- Go to 30 HP if the boat is 4.0 m or larger, you regularly carry three to four adults, or you run distances in open water
Both carry the same 5-year (3 + 2) warranty with Melbourne parts support, so the decision is about the boat and the load, not about backup.

- Who am I actually buying from?
- Easy Inflatables, Avoca Beach NSW 2251, Australia. ABN 96 856 548 613. Sean is the owner and skipper, Gary Stewart handles sales on +61 2 4335 1603, Karen Matthews handles email. The boats are Australian designed; international orders ship from our Hong Kong dispatch hub so your landed price stays competitive. Phone us before you pay a cent โ a real person answers.
- Is this really an Australian product?
- Yes โ Australian designed and engineered on the NSW Central Coast. Manufacturing is done offshore to our spec, and international orders ship direct from our Hong Kong dispatch hub. If we routed every boat through Australia first, the freight alone would roughly double or triple your cost for the same hull.
- What do I pay, and what is not included?
- The delivery and import terms depend on your country. EU, UK, New Zealand and named Asia/Pacific lanes include duty and tax; US freight is free but US buyers pay import charges on arrival. Other destinations show their terms before payment.
- How do I pay safely?
- Card through Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay) or bank transfer. Card payments carry your bank's own dispute protection. We never ask for crypto, gift cards or payment to a personal account.
- What if it arrives damaged?
- Every boat ships fully tracked and insured door to door. Photograph the carton and the boat on arrival and email us โ transit damage is claimed and replaced through us, not left with you and the courier.
- Is the warranty real outside Australia?
- Yes. The 7-year hull warranty on 1.2 mm VALMEX Heavy Plus and Orca Hypalon hulls applies wherever you are. Replacement parts are held in Australia and at our overseas hub and go out by express courier to your door.
- Is the boat actually certified?
- All Aerowave catamarans are CE certified to ISO 6185-3 and EU Directive 2013/53/EU. Certification paperwork is supplied with the boat โ ask and we will send it before you order.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does a 30 hp outboard cost in Australia?
- A$7,890 short shaft and A$7,963 long shaft for our 30 HP EFI, electric start with tiller control. Capital-city delivery is flat rate and quoted before you pay.
- How heavy is a 30 HP outboard?
- 107 kg dry. It is a permanently mounted engine โ plan on launching wheels or a trailer rather than carrying it.
- What size boat needs a 30 horsepower outboard?
- Inflatable catamarans and larger hulls from about 3.8 m to 4.5 m that are rated for it, especially when carrying three to four adults and gear.
- Is the 30 HP fuel injected?
- Yes. It is a 747 cc three-cylinder EFI four-stroke with oil pressure and temperature alarm sensors as standard.
- Do you sell a 40 HP outboard?
- We do not currently recommend 40 HP on our inflatable hulls โ 30 HP EFI is the sensible ceiling for a 3.8 m to 4.5 m inflatable. Call +61 2 4335 1603 if you have a rated hull that genuinely needs more.
- Can I run remote controls instead of a tiller?
- Yes. The 30 HP supports tiller (rear) or remote (front) control.
- What transom height does it need?
- The long shaft model needs a 21 inch (538 mm) transom. Measure before ordering to avoid prop ventilation in chop.
